Ford — GMC

Genesis

G80: The car that started out
as the Hyundai Genesis and
morphed into the Genesis
G80 will be all new for 2021,
arriving at a yet-unspecified
time next year. The V-8 drops
from the lineup, leaving the
twin-turbocharged V-6 from
the Sport model to top the
range. The naturally aspirated
3.8-liter V-6 still powers lower-
priced versions, and both sixes
will likely be available with all-
wheel drive. Genesis promises
that the G80’s proportions and
futuristic details will define
the brand’s next-generation
design language.

G90: Entirely restyled
three years after its debut, the
G90 continues to look like a
proper flagship. Underneath,
it’s essentially the same big
sedan that was introduced in
2016, with the same engine
choices: a twin-turbo 3.3-liter
V-6 and a 5.0-liter V-8. On the
outside, though, it is barely
recognizable. The grille,
fenders, front fascia, and
hood are new. Inside, the G90
remains much like before,
which is to say plush and
appealing. Copper-colored
accents and noise-canceling
technology add to the luxuri-
ous ambience.

GV80: Hyundai’s luxury brand
is wasting no time adding its
first crossover to the lineup. A
dramatically styled five-seater
that shares its rear-drive
underpinnings with the G80
sedan, the new GV80 will go on
sale next summer. Hyundai’s
stalwart 3.8-liter V-6 serves
as the standard powerplant,
with the company’s twin-turbo
3.3-liter V-6 in uplevel models.
There will be both rear- and
all-wheel-drive variants and
possibly a hybrid.

Unchanged: G70

GMC

Acadia: Professional grade
starts with a refreshed Acadia.
New fascias, the addition of a
230-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter
inline-four to the engine mix,
a nine-speed auto instead of
the six-speed, and a slightly
tweaked interior headline the
changes. A new-to-Acadia AT4
trim mimics the like-named
off-road packages of other
GMCs and comes standard
with the 310-hp V-6. A 193-hp
2.5-liter four-banger is still the
base engine.

the Bronco will feature retro
styling but use Ford’s thor-
oughly modern turbo 2.3-liter.
A V-6 and a hybrid powertrain
are not out of the question.

Explorer: This three-row SUV
now rides on a longitudinal-
engine platform. The return
to its rear-wheel-drive roots
greatly improves the Explorer’s
driving dynamics. And as a
bonus, it’s lighter than the
outgoing model. A 300-hp
turbo four is the base engine;
a 365-hp twin-turbo V-6 is
used on the top Platinum trim.
The hybrid—a first for the
Explorer—pairs a V-6 with an
electric motor and can be had
with rear- or all-wheel drive.
The high-performance, all-

wheel-drive ST model pumps
out 400 horsepower and 415
pound-feet from a twin-turbo
six. The interior looks and feels
richer than before, particularly
if you opt for the 10.1-inch
touchscreen and massaging
seats. This vastly improved
Explorer starts at $37,870 for a
rear-driver and charts north of
60 grand when fully loaded.

F-Series Super Duty: Fo rd ’s
three-quarter-ton and one-ton
trucks get freer-flowing
grilles as part of the lineup’s
facelift, but the bigger news
is the introduction of a very
big engine. Positioned above
the carryover 6.2-liter V-8 is
a 430-hp, 475-lb-ft 7.3-liter
V-8. The new pushrod engine

features an iron block, a
forged-steel crankshaft,
variable valve timing, and
port fuel injection. The
Super Duty’s existing Power
Stroke 6.7-liter diesel V-8
also gets upgraded with a
new fuel-injection system,
stronger internal components,
and a revised turbocharger;
Ford says it will produce more
power and torque than the
outgoing version’s 450 horse-
power and 935 pound-feet.

Transit: A facelift nets the
full-size Transit a larger grille,
a better dashboard design,
optional HID headlights, and a
number of available tech and
convenience features, includ-
ing front seats that can swivel
and an 8.0-inch touchscreen.
The EcoBoost twin-turbo
3.5-liter V-6 is still a choice,
but the base 3.5-liter V-6 and
upgrade turbo-diesel 2.0-liter
four are new; every engine
now pairs with a 10-speed
automatic. An all-wheel-drive
system for the gas-powered
models is newly available.

Minor trim changes: Edge,
Expedition, Fusion, Transit
Connect
Unchanged: EcoSport, F-150/
Raptor, GT, Ranger
