accustomedto thecontrollayout.Thereare
plentyof buttonsanddialstogetyourhead
around,butCanonhasrefineditsset-upover
the yearssoyoushouldn'thaveany
problemsfindingand
changingsettings,
especially as
everythingis neatlylabelled.Thereis a good
choiceof customisation,too,alongwithaQ
(Quick)buttonforfastaccessto keyfeatures.
Theviewfinderis verygoodandtypicalof
thisclassof camera– larger thanentry-level
modelsbutnotas bigorbright as the
semi-pro/promodels.TheLCDmonitoris
excellent,withahigh-resolutionscreenthat
providesa sharpandbrightdisplay.It sits on
anexcellentvari-angle platformforangled
usage andboaststhebenefit oftouchscreen
control.Its menusystemis excellenttoo,
beingbothcomprehensiveandeasyto
navigate.A top-plateLCDpaneloffers
anotherwayof quicklymonitoringsettings.
Theeight-waytogglejoystickis usefulfor
changingfocuspointsbutitsfunctionis the
sameas the eight-waycontrolthat sits
between theSETbuttonandrearcontroldial,
ratherthanhandlinganalternativefunction
- perhapsthat'ssomethingwe'llseewitha
firmwareupdate.Overall,thereis littleto
complainabouthandlingandeaseofuse.
The 32 .5-megapixelresolutionis the
highestofanyAPS-Csensorin therange and
a bigjumpupfromthe 2 4-megapixelsof the
EOS 80 D. What'smoretheDIGIC 8 processor
allowscontinuousshootingat upto ten
frames-per-second,althoughyouarelimited
by thebuffer to burstsof around 70 JPEGsor
25 Rawfiles,althoughthatshouldn't causea
problemformostusers.
