PositionDescription:Postdoctoralpositionsareavailableinthelaboratories

ofDr.LornaRole,Dr.SimonHalegoua,NationalInstituteofNeurological

DisordersandStroke(NINDS),andDr.DavidTalmage,NationalInstituteof

MentalHealth(NIMH)inBethesdaMD.TheRoleandTalmagelaboratories

useawidearrayofapproachestounderstandthecontributionofcholinergic

signalingtomemoryformationandrecall,tounderstandhowaxonalsignaling

contributestothedevelopmentandmaintenanceofcholinergiccircuitsinthe

mammalianbrain,andtoidentifynovelapproachesforreversingormitigating

theadverseeffectsofalteredcholinergicsignalinginpathologicalconditions

ofmemorydisorders(AD,PTSD).TheHalegouaandTalmagelabsdecipher

themolecularsignalingeventsthatmediateacuteandchronichyperalgesic

responses of mouse nociceptors to infammation and injury using an array of

sophisticatedcellbiological,molecular,genetic,andimagingapproachesin

vitroandinvivo.

Qualifcations:CandidatesshouldhaveaPh.D.,M.D.orequivalentdegree,

lessthan 4 yearsofpostdoctoralexperience,andexpertiseinelectrophysiology,

imaging,behavioralanalyses,and/orcellbiologyandmolecularbiology.

Candidatesshouldhaveexcellentwritingandcommunicationskills,andan

outstandingpublicationrecord.
