Spotlight on readers’ excellent images and how they captured them

Jubilee Bridge
3 Here, Benjamin
tried several shutter
speeds until he
settled on one
that captured a
combination of
movement and detail.

Changi East
Boardwalk
1 This boardwalk is
one of Benjamin’s
favourite places
for sunsets. A long
exposure flattened
the sea while keeping
detail in the cloud.

Flags on
Jubilee Bridge
2 Spotting these
flags, which were
lit by spotlights,
Benjamin saw the
potential for a long
exposure. He used
them as a lead-in
line towards the
skyscrapers in
the background.

Benjamin Tan, Singapore
In 2005, having completed a degree in IT,
Benjamin Tan found himself in need of a hobby
to enjoy after four years of hard work. He decided
to invest in a DSLR and, having photographed
events and friends’ weddings, he decided to
concentrate on landscapes and cityscapes. ‘Photography
helps me wind down and rejuvenate after a long week of
work,’ he says. ‘I love how surprising photography can be. You
can go to the same place every weekend, but the changing
light and weather can give you a different mood and photo
each time.’ Visit http://www.benjamintan.photography.
