Lightroom Classic’s new features
As well as its app launch (above), Adobe has announced significant
tweaks to the desktop version of Lightroom, including guided
edits. There is also a new migrator tool for moving to Lightroom
from Photoshop Elements. Lightroom for iOS, Android and Chrome
is also getting extra features. See bit.ly/lightroomupdates.


Major Adobe smartphone app previewed
Adobe has announced Adobe Photoshop Camera, a smartphone app
that suggests edits and filters to be applied at the point of taking
the shot via the company’s AI technology (called Sensei, from the
Japanese word for teacher). The date of the full release is yet to
be confirmed but you can sign up for a preview at http://www.adobe.
com/products/photoshop-camera.


Famous Beatles


photographer dies
Robert Freeman, who
photographed several of The
Beatles’ most famous album
covers, passed away on 7
November aged 82. Freeman,
who first came to prominence
as a Sunday Times
photojournalist, shot five of the
band’s Parlophone releases
between 1963 and 1966,
including Rubber Soul and the
very striking With the Beatles
(as pictured above).


Canon EOS Ra for astrophotography
Ironically for a camera named after the Greek goddess of dawn and
the Egyptian sun god, the astrophotography-optimised EOS Ra is
designed to come out at night. Based on the EOS R, but with its IR
filter modified to pass hydrogen-alpha light, it’s due next month

Lumix updates
Panasonic has announced
firmware updates for its
high-end Lumix cameras. The
S1 and S1R will gain CFexpress
card compatibility and support
for lens function buttons, while
the GH5, GH5S and G9 will
benefit from improved AF
features and enhanced video.
The downloads are free, and
will be available from the
company’s Global Customer
Support website from 19
November.
