Going to

the Galleries

I

t’s fall. For us, that means visits to our favorite fall art
destinations such as Santa Fe, Tucson, Scottsdale, Bozeman,
Boston and of course New York City. We love the idea of having
a hearty lunch then strolling the arts districts looking for new
work from emerging and established artists. A few weeks ago,
we did just that. We were on Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New
Mexico, for the annual Historic Canyon Road Paint and Sculpt
Out. It was such a wonderful time. We walked from gallery to
gallery chatting with friends, making new ones, looking at art,
speaking with gallery owners and artists—I don’t think there is
a better way to spend the day. It really is amazing how enjoyable
this experience is. Galleries are such wonderful spaces run by
knowledgeable people who spend hours upon hours seeking
and fi nding artists to represent and promote.
Speaking of galleries, we just heard from our wonderful
friend Steve Diamant who owns Arcadia Contemporary, now
located in Pasadena, California. Here is what Steve wrote us:
“Hey! Just wanted to let you know that we just sold a Malcolm
Liepke painting from inventory specifi cally because of YOUR
magazine. The collector saw and read the article, then went to
our website and saw one he loved and just called in to buy it. And
he said he wants to buy more. He’s a brand-new collector to us.”
I just want to point out that the article Steve mentions is in
our November issue, so the call came in within a few days of
the magazine being printed.
American Art Collector works. It does what we set out to
do on day one of this magazine, which is to bring galleries,
collectors and artists together in a way that hasn’t been done
before. It warms my heart to know that this is still happening
issue after issue 15 years later.
We love hearing these sold stories. Keep them coming!

Sincerely,

Joshua Rose
