Spring is my favourite time of year, and I always know when it’s on its way when the frogs emerge from
hibernation. My pond was full of them on the day that this photograph of a mating pair was taken; they
were all oblivious to my presence, enabling me to take numerous macro images through my busy lens.

I had spent a few weeks photographing a family of coots in Nottinghamshire and I was completely
amazed by the size of their feet. One day, as I finished a shoot, I saw this coot standing on a floating
log by the lake and her feet stood out remarkably. From the slightly higher perspective I was taking
the photo, I thought it would be more creative to include the whole coot with her reflection.
