in any way, therefore I now call all my images
Untitled and I number them to differentiate
between them. Naming them felt forced to
me and not at all sincere, it was something I
initially thought I had to do. Considering how
all the elements – distracting or unimportant
- are eliminated in the process, titles seemed
out of place and I risked pretentiousness.
ER Your work has had considerable notice
in the short time that you have made it
available for viewing, and the fine art world
- including the prestigious Peter Fetterman
Gallery – has taken you up. How has this
affected you and your work?
NO It’s a rather fascinating and daunting
experience all at the same time. I couldn’t
be more grateful for having been granted the
opportunity of exhibiting alongside classic and
contemporary masters in some of the most
prestigious settings worldwide. Being shown
in these places is a humbling affirmation of my
creative eye. The pressure that accompanies
being validated at an iconic fair such as Paris
Photo 2019 can be overwhelming, but I feel
that my previous experience paved the way
for any challenges that may lie ahead. I’ll do
my best to honour this recognition with the
work I’ll continue to produce in the future.
