Selling prints is just a small
part of what Redbubble does.
Customers are just as likely,
if not more so, to be seeking
stickers, phone cases or
T-shirts emblazoned with an
artwork by an independent
creative. Thankfully,
Redbubble takes care of all
this by taking the image you
upload and showcasing,
selling, manufacturing and
shipping the results. You
decide on the products your
image appears on and you set
the price above Redbubble’s
cost for the item.
Prints are sold in four set
sizes (from 12x8in to 30x20in)
on Kodak Endura paper with
a lustre or metallic finish.
There is also the option to sell
mounted and framed prints,
or as a canvas.
Fun, friendly and with a light
touch, Redbubble is not the
best home for serious fine art
images. Instant, graphic and
low-cost images appealing to
the under 30s is the way to go
if you want to make money.
It’s not easy to browse work,
as there are few filters and
the results for ‘black & white
photography print’ in the
search box yields images that
are not remotely monochrome.
Perhaps the best way to sell is

Fine Art America has rapidly
grown to become one of the
largest marketplaces for art
and photography. It currently
has more than 10 million
photographs for sale, of which
482,000 are black & white.
Looking through work on the
website requires stamina and
patience, but buyers can refine
searches with keywords if they
know what they are looking
for. Luckily, Fine Art America
offers other ways for you to
sell, such as through your
Facebook page or website,
which will likely provide better
results initially.
It’s free to join and start
selling but if you wish to list
more than 25 works, sell from
your own website and send
trackable marketing emails you
will need to pay $30 a year for
the premium service.
Selling is as simple as
uploading an image, setting
the price for each print size
you wish to sell and whether
or not you wish to sell any
other products with your image
on, such as stationery, home
wares or accessories. Each
item has a base price for Fine
Art America to manufacture,
package and deliver – you
simply add your desired profit
on top. They take care of
