MIDGE URE
WITH CHRIS LODDER
”I met Midge in February 2015, when he did an
acoustic set at Milano’s in Brighton, Melbourne.
He was happy to meet people afterwards and
was very down-to-earth. I told him how I’d
been a fan since 1981 but I’d had to
wait 34 years and move to
Australia to meet him!
We also shared
our sadness at
the then-recent
death of Steve
Strange to whom
Midge dedicated
Fade to Grey
during his set.”

”I met Clem while he was touring with Bootleg Blond

ie

earlier this year – there can surely be no greater
accolade for a tribute act than having an original
band member regularly play with you! I know Bootleg
Blondie as they performed at our annual fundraiser
Catfest near Milton Keynes, which is named after my
wife Cat, who’s been living with cancer for nearly
10 years. The event raises money for the charity Ac

tion

Against Cancer (£52,607 this year, over £164,000
in total). Alongside that event, I draw pictures of
musical stars, get them signed wherever possible, t

hen

auction them, with all proceeds going to the charit

y.

My meeting with Clem here was at a Bootleg Blondie
gig in Leeds in January, where he signed a couple o

f

drawings I’d done of him. Over the years, I’ve rais

ed

more than £30,000 for cancer charities through my
art and I also get guitars signed by musicians to be
auctioned for the charity.”

ANNIE LENNOX &
DAVE STEWART
WITH CRAIG HOGAN
”The fi rst photo was taken after Annie’s headline
appearance at the Royal Festival Hall in London
for the EQUALS Live concert on 11 March 2011
as part of the Women Of The World Festival. I’ve
met Annie on numerous occasions over the years,
but this has to be one of my favourite photos and
meetings. Much to the crowd’s surprise on the night,
she played a short version of Love Is A Stranger
on piano. When I asked her about it, she said in
that strong Scottish accent: “Why not?” The second
photo with Dave was taken at his Sunderland
Empire gig on 10 September 2017, a fantastic
night. Dave really whipped up the audience at
one point by secretly appearing in the high stalls
playing guitar. It was great to compare Revenge
tattoos and share a Vodka Martini with him after the
show in one of his old Sunderland pub haunts.”
