My style uses classic silhouettes with
feminine flair. The 50s is my favourite
decade, so I draw a lot of inspiration
from vintage clothing. Vintage styling
allows other crocheters to imagine how
the garment can fit into their wardrobe. I
use simple stitch patterns to emphasise
the shape and drape of the garment.
This makes my patterns accessible to
a wide range of crocheters at different
skill levels. I will try to continue to making
flattering and versatile garments that
follow the same trend.
This month we speak to Grace Kok from

y home is beautiful Auckland, New
Zealand, where I live with my family.
The best thing about Auckland is
that you’re within half an hour of the
city, the beach and the mountains. I love
spending time outside, but crocheting is
definitely my main hobby and I always take
my WIPs with me wherever I go. I started
my blog and designing crochet patterns
simultaneously. I loved discovering modern
knitwear designs, however my knitting skills
weren’t great so I looked for similar crochet
patterns. I soon discovered the world of
crochet blogging and designers that were
creating beautiful garments but I couldn’t
always find what I had in mind so decided
to design my own. I wanted to make items
that were modern and great for everyday
life. It was daunting figuring out the pattern
grading and tech skills but thanks to a
supportive network around me I was able
to release my first pattern.
Simple, feminine silhouettes are
a winning design formula
