Apart from this project, I think I’ve been
lucky enough to never face any true
Christmas crochet disasters (and calling
this one a ‘disaster’ is a bit of a stretch
too). I don’t ever really see any projects
as disasters even if they do go wrong,
more as learning curves. If something
doesn’t work out, it’s no big deal. I just
go back to the drawing board with the
lessons I’ve learned!

Even though I am only focussing on the
one crochet Christmas gift this year,
pretty much all of the crochet I do is
either tutorials or for gifts. The feeling of
creating something for someone else is
unbeatable! It’s nice to see them open
it up and appreciate the sentiment,
especially when they have some idea of
the time and effort that goes into making
a gift.  I don’t think I could just pick one
favourite gift from all the ones I’ve ever
made if you asked me, but some of my
most memorable are when I gifted a
blanket to my grandma a few years ago
for her birthday and a cute tea cosy to my
mum for Mother’s Day.

The Duchess Cluster looks similar to a
C2C stitch with a little more movement

The inished Archduchess Cluster also
creates a lovely luid textured effect

CROCHET MASTERCLASS
I love Lindy’s Silver Screen Sweater (page 16) this month, and her
textured Duchess and Archduchess Clusters create a snuggly fabric
that I think looks lovely dressed up or down for any occasion
