Crochet Now - UK (2019-10)

One of my favourite things to
do with crochet is turn that
fuddy-duddy old expectation
that it can only be used for
granny squares and blankets
on its head. Don’t get me
wrong, I love granny squares
and blankets as much as
the next person, but as
you know, that’s not all
there is to this beautiful
craft. Crochet is nothing if
not adaptable and, as well
as it works with the most
constrained budgets and

basic skills, I think it also
really excels when teamed
with luxurious yarn choices
and is given a chance to
show off its delicate lace
potential too.
Even choosing a more
expensive yarn doesn’t have
to break the bank if you
go for the right project – a
lovely lacy shawl or scarf in
a lighter-weight yarn need
only take a ball or two, so
you can treat yourself with
a silky blend, or experiment
with something different, like
bamboo or linen. Gloves and
hats can also be the perfect
projects for the luxury touch.
Natural wool is wonderfully
warm, or you could go all out
and add a touch of cashmere
and really enjoy the sensation
of that super-soft feel next to
your skin.
