B+WThis impressive black & white panoramic was commended in the Wildlife Insight category of the Outdoor Photographer of the Year.
The picture by British photographer James Lewin was taken in Tsavo East National Park in Kenya.
The competition, run by our sister magazine Outdoor Photography, was the biggest yet, attracting more than 20,000 entries from
photographers in 60 countries. Outdoor gear manufacturer Fjällräven provided a £500 Fjällräven Award for each category winner
and the overall winner, Robert Birkby, also received £2,000.

The best new work in photojournalism can be
seen at a series of exhibitions around the world.
Nominated pictures in the World Press Photo
of the Year competition can be seen in a year-long
exhibition which visits 100 cities in 45 countries,
starting in Amsterdam on 13 April.
Photographers from 129 countries submitted
pictures documenting trouble spots, major
events and issues around the world. Among the
nominated B&W pictures is this one of Afghan
refugees by Iranian photographer Enayat Asadi.Winning pictures from this year’s Sony World Photography Awards are on display
at Somerset House in London from 18 April to 6 May.
Also on show will be pictures by Nadav Kander, who is the recipient of the
Outstanding Contribution to Photography award. He is honoured for his versatility
and significant impact on photography. Previous recipients include Elliott Erwitt,
Eve Arnold, Martin Parr and Mary Ellen Mark. The awards attracted more than
325,000 submissions from photographers in 195 countries and territories. The
overall winners are announced at a ceremony in London on 17 April. After London,
the exhibition travels to Italy, Germany and Japan.
