INSTAGRAMMERS OF THE MONTH
For those who think Instagram is full of frippery, here are the Instagram
feeds of five very serious and talented photographers.
Giles Duley (@gilesduley) – an English portrait and documentary
photographer. He is best known for his work documenting the long-term
impact of war. He lost two legs and an arm in Afghanistan and is the
founder of legacyofwarfoundation.com. A great photographer,
a courageous man and a fascinating Instagram feed.
Jon Enoch (@jonenochphoto) – a London based editorial and
commercial photographer. His brilliant Instagram feed concentrates
mainly on his strikingly modern portrait work.
Joel Meyerowitz (@joel_meyerowitz) – yes the Joel Meyerowitz has
a fascinating and brilliant Instagram feed. It features up to date work
and some amazing images from his archives.
Platon (@platon) – not much to say really, apart from he is amazing
and his Instagram feed is fascinating and always inspires.
Harry Borden (@harryborden) – brilliant, moving portraits and images of
survivors of the Holocaust from his wonderful book Survivor.

THE PICTURES
This month’s pictures were very interesting to choose. I found that most of
my mobile photography uses the rule of thirds, even when I’m not aware of it.
A lot of people think this rule mainly applies to landscape photography,
but it’s everywhere.
For example, look at the picture of the cupola of Cadiz cathedral (1), my
dog Bunny looking quite magnificent – even if I say so myself (2), a building
in the distance (3), a group of ladies in Spain (4), sherry glasses with the
word ‘Jerez’ perfectly positioned to catch the eye immediately (5), and the
three legged dog at the wine shop in Sofia – incidentally called Merlot (6).
