OLLOCLIP SUPERWIDE +
TELEPHOTO PRO LENSES
Easy attachment
LIKES
DISLIKES
Excellent build quality
Easy to clip on and off
Broad range of compatible lenses
Expensive
Only works with slim cases
or no case at all
Olloclip offers a
wealth of different
lenses to fit the latest
iPhones and, with the
multi-clip, Samsung and
Google Pixel phones too. The
top of the range Superwide Pro
and Telephoto Pro lenses are
noticeably larger and heavier
than the other lenses Olloclip
make, so as to gather more
light and reduce distortion.
The Superwide offers a 120°
field of view, while the telephoto
offers 2x magnification.
The lenses tend to capture
images higher in quality than if
using the native camera alone,
but £175 for the kit seems
fairly steep for the relative
jump in quality. An alternative
would be to buy just one of
the lenses for around £83 and
a clip for just under £17. The
clip works brilliantly and will fit
over most slim cases. It’s easy
to get on and off, adjust for
the clearest picture and slide
to the other lens if you have a
dual camera phone. The multi-
device clip allows the lenses
to be used on other phones,
so long as the camera is within
2.5cm of the top of the phone.
Other Connect-X lenses can
then be clipped in to create an
interchangeable lens system
that includes a 7x, 14x
and 21x macro lens.
Olloclip’s Pro lenses are larger
and brighter than the company’s
Intro and Essential lenses.

Fun, lo-fi results
Eccentric, offbeat nature
Compatible with most
Android and iOS phones
Flimsy clip
Relatively expensive
If you’re a Lomography fan,
then you may well enjoy the
offbeat nature of the Kúla
Bebe 3D Lens. As the name
suggests, it captures 3D
images, but not in the latest
high-tech way that you might
expect. Instead, it is a fairly
rudimentary design that clips
on to almost any phone and
uses a pair of aluminium mirrors
to capture the left and right
eye view at the same time –
rendering them into a split-
frame image.
Using the app for iOS or
Android phones, you can then
create a variety of 3D output
images. Pictures can be viewed
with the included red and cyan
glasses, or as an animated
gif that switches between the
left and right view creating an
illusion of depth that Kúla calls
a Wigglegram. A paper 3D
stereo-viewer is also included
in the package, which allows
you to slot a smartphone in and
view your results in lo-fi 3D.
The clip seems a little flimsy
but it’s simple to use. This is not
a product for macro work, as
the optimal distance for the 3D
effect is between 2m and 20m.
