Never-endling story
Survive by using your cunning and
outfoxing the enemy in Endling
Everyone knows that raising children
is a tough job, but when you’re the
last living fox mother on the planet – a
planet that has fallen to ruin due to
the destructiveness of humans – and
you need to bring up three vulnerable
and defenceless fox cubs, it’s safe
to say that you’ve got a much harder
task than most.
Developer Herobeat Studios has
recently announced Endling, a side-
scrolling adventure that hopes to
explore hard-hitting themes such as
the environment and the exploitation
of animals, and it looks set to do just
that while also constantly yanking on
our heartstrings.
As that mother fox, travelling
across the land with your three pups,
you must do everything you can tohelp them survive. Not only will you
be going up against the harsh and
dangerous environment, but there
are humans you’ll need to watch out
for, too. You’ll also need to hunt other
animals to feed your little ones.
With its beautiful art style and
poignant message, Endling has
certainly captured our attention, and
with the promise of “emotionally taxing
decisions”, we know we’re going to
be reaching for the tissues. Just,
please, don’t force us into a ‘Sophie’s
Choice’ moment where we are asked
to sacrifice one cub in order to save
another. Our poor hearts just won’t be
able to handle it... QEndling isn’t expected to arrive
until Q1 2021.
