about their actions a little bit more.
That was the primary goal.” This isn’t
to say the game feels sluggish, you
can still move around swiftly through
the environment, but the slower pace
does encourage you to consider your
actions more carefully.

Live and learn
Having experimented with the
different mechanics involved, we
start to get the hang of things and
the second match goes much more
smoothly. Now we’re deploying our
troops in a more efficient manner,
keeping an eye on their health levels,
as well as our own. We also learn to

pick up their corpses when they’re
downed, so that they can return to
the battlefield faster. We also start
switching up the crews between
rounds, selecting certain ones based
on whether we’re on the offensive
or defensive. This learning curve
doesn’t seem unique to us, either. The
feedback from pretty much everyone
who’s played the game has been
almost identical to ours, starting off
poorly but soon grasping the basics.
After only a couple of rounds we’re
eager to start another, it’s refreshing
to play something genuinely new.
By combining real-time strategy and
first-person shooter designs, V1 has
created a fun, exhilarating
and unique experience.
But this of course comes
with its own challenges.

“Building the game was actually one
of the most difficult aspects of the
early construction because there was
nothing else out there like it,” highlights
Lehto. “There was nothing to look at as
an example to say, ‘Here’s what they
did right or wrong, or here’s how we can
improve it.’ We were in this void of trying
to make something completely unique
and different. It’s been challenging,
there’s no doubt about it.”
The multiplayer aspect of the game
is the only area in which you’ll be able
to personalise your crew. This will
consist of purely cosmetic changes,
such as skins, material swaps, and
even the ability to have accessories
dangling from the top of your grav
cycle, like hanging dice. You’ll also
be able to obtain and change which
emotes you can use from your emote

2 NEON DREAMS^
As the fastest squad,
members of Neon Dreams
can zip around the map
and avoid enemy fire like
nobody’s business, which
is handy because their
durability sucks and
they will go down pretty
quickly under enemy fire.

1 WARHEDZ
The slowest of all the
crews in Disintegration,
but they pack a punch.
Watch out for their
warhead weapon, which
detonates a nuke in the
battlefield, causing
devastating damage to
anyone caught in its path.

SQUAD GOALS

The multiplayer component mixes with the overall world of
Disintegration. The crews you play as are made up of
ordinary people who have similar interests and form their
own factions. You’ll be able to select from nine different
crews, but only six have been revealed so far, and each are
vastly different from one another. Here’s a quick look...

ABOVE It takes a
bit of getting
used to, but the
tactical shooter
gameplay soon
clicks.
