The most enticing deal involves
Xbox One X. Use Xbox All Access to pick
up Microsoft’s supercharged system,
and you can get that Scarlett upgrade
after 12 months of your contract. Well,
as long as you’re snappy and sign on
for the service before 31 December.

Easy Access
If you think Xbox All Access may
suit your finances, you have three
packages to consider. The cheapest
is the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition,
which costs just £17.99/$19.99. A
swift word of warning on switching
to Scarlett with this price plan:
you have to pay a one-off fee of
£15/$20 to qualify for the upgrade.
Next is the Xbox One S, weighing in
at £19.99/$22.99. Finally, there’s
the Xbox One X option, which costs
£24.99/$30.99.
There is one sticking point for those
with less than ship-shape finances. To
qualify for Xbox All Access, you have
to pass a credit score check. In the
UK, this process is handled by Swedish
bank Klarna, while Citizens Bank will
crunch the numbers if you’re in the US.
Providing you’re not in all the debt
though, the fact Xbox Game Pass
Ultimate is also included makes the
service that much more enticing.
Considering signing up for two years of
Game Pass Ultimate would cost £260,
that’s quite a deal. Xbox All Access is
available via GAME and Smyths Toys in
the UK, and Amazon in the US. Q

Microsoft reintroduces Xbox All Access with a

manageable, extra alluring upgrade path for

Project Scarlett

THINK
OUTSIDE
THE BOX

When Project Scarlett hits shelves
in holiday 2020, our credit cards will
probably wince. Buying a brand-new
console is never cheap, and with the
insane amount of cutting-edge tech
Microsoft is squeezing into its next-
gen Xbox, Scarlett could retail for a
sizeable sum. Don’t despair quite yet,
though. You and your tattered change
purse may have a more manageable
way of upgrading to Scarlett.
Enter Xbox All Access, the program
previously launched for a limited time
last year, letting you buy and pay off
an Xbox One over a number of months.
Back then, the service was exclusive
to the US, but now it’s been rolled out
and repackaged to also cater for UK
and Australian Xbox fans.
The headline news? Under the new
scheme you can buy an Xbox One for
as little as £17.99/$19.99 per month
with a 24 month contract. While that
may seem like a slightly daunting
commitment, that is one hell of a
Scarlett-shaped sweetener.
Whether you go for the Xbox One S,
the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition or
Xbox One X, there’s an upgrade path
to Scarlett that avoids the one-off
outlay associated with buying a new
console. If you sign up to buy one of
Microsoft’s 1080p machines, you’re
eligible to upgrade to Scarlett after
“the equivalent of 18 payments”. That
means you’d be upgrading to the next
Xbox around spring 2021, assuming
you sign up to Xbox All Access now.

To qualify for an Xbox
All Access Scarlett
upgrade, you’ll have
to keep your Xbox
One in decent shape.
Your current console
and controller (plus
wires) must be
returned to the store
you bought it from in
‘good condition’. As
part of the upgrade,
you’ll also need to
purchase a new
24-month Xbox All
Access contract to
get in on that sexy
Scarlett action.
