KERRY’S

JOURNAL

These holly, mistletoe and ivy patterns are
perfect examples that you can whip up in
less than an hour and will put a gorgeous
finishing touch to the parcels under your
tree. If you have time it’s lovely to crochet
the garland long enough to use as
the ribbon.

Back to crafting
For me, the time in between Christmas
and new year is the best time for crafting.
After all the mince pies are eaten, the tree
is starting to drop its needles and you’re
ready to sit on the sofa for your favourite
festive film, you should take the time
to do a project just for you. Gift making
can become a chore as the deadlines
approach, so I would recommend a
really indulgent and fun make. This year
my favourite make of the season is our
Nutcracker, made in our brand-new
purple colour. He is a fantastic challenge,
and includes a little bit of everything
from colour changing and loop stitch
to slipstitch traversing. It’s one of those
projects that will have highs and lows as

There’s still time!
In the final few weeks and days before
Christmas there’s just enough time to put
the finishing touches to your presents.
Whether you’ve spent all year crocheting
handmade gifts, or had to do a last-minute
bulk Amazon order to get it done, taking
time with your wrapping will make all
the difference. Over the past few years
I have really enjoyed moving towards a
more environmentally-conscious style of
wrapping, using recycled brown paper and
ribbon, and then topping my gifts off with
crocheted decorations that can then go
onto the recipient’s Christmas tree.

you work through it, but ultimately it is an
incredibly satisfying thing to make. This
season we are very proud to introduce
two new colours to the TOFT core colour
spectrum. Ruby and Amethyst are bold
festive colours perfect for brightening
up the grey winter season. Developing
these colours has taken a very long time,
and I am thrilled to have finally settled on
the perfect tone of red and purple to sit
alongside our wide range of naturals.
