CROCHET CHRONICLES
Sarah-Jayne
I
’ve just finished a month of wonderful
celebrations. My little girl turned two
and my mum turned 60! They were
some fabulous milestones to celebrate
together, and it’s been great having time
with family. I am all partied out now
though; a little break wouldn’t go amiss!
I’ve just made a start on two new WIPs
(works in progress for those unfamiliar with
the term), but I don’t really know why, as I
already have far too many on the go. I’m a
serial WIP starter and only around 10% get
completed! It’s just too much fun getting
inspired to start something new.
Most of us are probably in the same boat
now as we creep closer towards Christmas,
realising we’ve forgotten to make someone
something for the big day, or even that we
haven’t bought someone anything either!
If I had to recommend any quick makes for
last-minute gifts, I’d definitely say mitts or
a cowl. Often these gifts can be crocheted
with as little as one or two balls of yarn
from your stash, they are easy to wear and
easy to pair with the recipient’s favourite
colour or style. There’s a pattern for a
lovely cowl on my website called the Brook
Cowl by Hayley from hellomooncrochet
on Instagram, which would be a perfect
make for Christmas. It’s a popular design
too – I know of a few people who made it
themselves the same day it was released!
When it comes to the new year, I always
like to set myself some goals. Perhaps one
of them this year should be to finish some
of my UFOs (unfinished objects), and I also
I have plans to really explore crocheting
garments in 2020. I think it’s a nice way to
