Crochet Now - UK (2019-11)

As the colder weather really
starts to set in and the days
turn rainy, damp and grey,
I feel the need to try and
balance things out with
more cosiness and comfort
at home. As the Danish
philosophy of Hygge sums up
so well, it’s the time of year
to treat yourself kindly and
enjoy the pleasures of life.
For me, this takes the form
of snuggling up at home with
candles, soft thick blankets
(crocheted, of course) and a
frothy coffee to sip. But that

scene wouldn’t be complete
without an accompanying
crochet project to work on.

The things that I often find the
most comforting and relaxing
to work on are those that are
quite simple and repetitive,
something that doesn’t
take too much thought on
my part and requires only a
few different stitches works
wonders. After a moment or
two the rhythm of it will start
to work its magic and ease
me into a soothed and relaxed
mood. There’s something so
wonderfully calming about
the motions of crochet that
sometimes I can feel my
tensions flow away as I work.
If the candles and blankets
take care of my physical
comfort, the crochet takes
care of my mind.

“It’s the time of

year to treat

yourself kindly”
