    sevenyears,it’s beentheperfectsetting for the
    BrooklynHoliday BookFair,a market for rare
and used books hosting some of the borough’s

    black-and-white photographs of American life.
More than 400 color images, projected in rotation
in a dark gallery, are still on view at the Brooklyn

symphony orchestra, the emblem of an Establish-
ment that had no time for him 50 years ago and
later crowned him with laurels. The New York
Philharmonic performs his new “Music for
Ensemble and Orchestra,” then Reichruns the
after-party, a “Nightcap” in the Stanley H. Kaplan
    Penthouse on December 7. j.d.
