livegames THE MONTH IN...
EVENTS

Last month the season
of spook was upon us,
and there were enough
Halloween events in our
games to guarantee even
the sight of a pumpkin spice
latte began to trigger our
flight-or-fightresponses.

Of all the
seasonal
events,
All Saints’ Wake, Final
Fantasy XIV’s version of
Halloween, is one of our
favourites. We always love
how Haukke Manor ends
up being redecorated to
become a haunted house,
and this time it was filled
with some chilling, slightly
devious puzzles. Completing
it landed us with some
great rewards, including
a spooky Circus Ahriman
mount. Which you can be
darn sure we’ll be using well
pastHalloweentokeepthe
spookinessgoing.
With the Moon
in Destiny 2
essentially
being a sort of gathering
places for spirits, it’s a
little strange we ended up
on Mercury for the first
Festival Of The Lost under
the Shadowkeep expansion.
But there was still plenty
to love as we completed
activities and collected
candy and chocolate coins
to trade for goodies. This
year there was some great
skeletal-costumed gear, and
an absolutely adorable bat
outfit for your Ghost which
was, well, to die for.

ONLINE – DRAGONHOLD
This latest addition to ESO tied
up the Season Of The Dragon
and wrapped up the year-long
story that’s been ongoing since
the Elsweyr expansion’s launch.
These took place in the dangerous
Southern Elsweyr region. It also
added more dragons to fight,
bosses to slay, and a host of bonus
quests and rewards. We loved the
dragons – but what could be next?

GWENT–
IRON JUDGMENT
Beyond introducing the likes of King
Radovid V as part of its 80-card
strong expansion, Gwent’s
geared up by introducing extra
mechanics. New Armor-type
units can take more damage, and
Defenders can protect nearby
cards. Alongside those are new
keywords: Barricade for armoured
units, and Exposed for those who
have lost their defences.

REDDEADONLINE –
FEAR OF THE DARK
Limited-time events have been a
great feature of Red Dead’s online
side. Fear Of The Dark was the
latest Halloween tie-in, and was
yet another great whole game
mode (which should totally return).
Supernaturally fast Night Stalkers
preyed on Hunters, who had to
collect masks to beat them. It’s
as close a throwback to Undead
Nightmare as we’ll get.

UPDATE EXPANSION EVENT

SEASON

TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE
Fortnite’s Chapter 2 reveal took
us by surprise, but it turns out the
big refresh had been leaked online
back in September. At the time,
the new map and updates seemed
quite unbelievable.
