“AVOIDING THE

STALKERS EVOKES

ALIEN: ISOLATION

LEVELS OF TENSION.”

We’re in the Ashmann Inn searching
for the truths hidden behind its
decaying walls in this sequel to
Remothered: Tormented Fathers. New
protagonist Jennifer is searching for the ‘truth’,
all the while being pursued by the sinister
Stalkers – hunters caught in time.

Avoiding the Stalkers evokes Alien: Isolation levels
of tension, as while we can hide in closets and
chests, the enemy is smart: “He will know how to
investigate and even hear us breathing,” says series
creator Chris Darril. We can slow them down by
tying a rope to a door, or fight back by tethering the
creature to an area of the house with a special item.
“Everything will be at [your] complete disposal.”
Puzzle solving is equally flexible, and while Silent
Hill’s cryptic mechanisms have been an influence
“the approach to the puzzles will be definitely more
realistic and intuitive, let’s say strategic,” says Darril.
One such puzzle has you using the hotel’s phone
to dial into the guest rooms, drawing the creature
pursuing you in and opening up an escape route.
For many Remothered is the series bringing back
classic survival horror, and Darril even has a third
game planned. “I already have a script and the basis
for the gameplay events,” he teases.

The Remothered series was
created by artist, director,
and writer Chris Darril as a
callback to PS1 horror games.
