VERDICT

THE OPM BREAKDOWN

Right The Time
Machine puzzle
stage gets the
cogs whirring.

Below Some
of the stages
are short, but
beautifully
remade.

Above left Each weapon has an alt attack... and there are cockney fairies!

A solid remake of a cult game
from a bygone era, MediEvil’s
flaws lay in its past. The eight
hours you’ll spend in Sir Dan’s
metal boots will, however, have
you smiling until the credits roll.
Ian Dean

5% Entering the
Zarok battle... so
that’s the real
reason to find
the Chalices!

13% Trying new
weapons only to
realise they all
kind of have the
same effect.

19%Searching

10%Unlocking
the Aliens-like
AntCavesstage.

WHAT YOU DO IN... MEDIEVIL

46%
Letting the music
and graphics
tickle your
nostalgia glands.

7% Replaying
every level to
find the lost
souls to unlock
the original
PS1 version.

HIDDEN MAGIC
Completing side-quests and
discovering secret areas will unlock
new treasures and even a
bonus boss battle...

BOSS IT
...but be warned, this is a retro
game so has a weird relationship to
check points; die on a boss battle
and its back to the stage’s start.

LOVING/HATING

IS IT BETTER THAN?

A genuineclassic

PlayStation4, Shadow

howit’sdone.

NO NO NO
All three Spyro games
remade with swish
new visuals and
tweaked to play as we
expect in 2019.

Crash Team Racing as
you remember it, but
on PS4, complete with
online modes and
rankings. Perfect.

STAT PACK

Chalices to find
and fill with
enemies’ souls.
Each one unlocks
something nice in
Hall Of Heroes.

Enemies to
banish, spread
over the 20
stages, including
werewolves and
skeleton pirates.

Endings
to unlock,
determined
by how many
Chalices you’ve
managed to fill.

the game is
dedicated to,
and who’s hidden
in one of the
stages.
