iCloud online APPLE SKILLS
DECEMBER 2019 | MACFORMAT | 35
1
Go to settings
Account Settings is now the single place
to manage your iCloud account information. It
is visible below your introductory image and
greeting when you sign in and below the list of
app choices once you’ve opened an application.
2
Manage Apple ID
A bar at the top of the settings page
will present you with options to Manage your
Apple ID and change your time zone. The
Manage option redirects you to appleid.apple.
com, the dedicated page for your Apple ID.
3
Check storage
You can also view how much storage you
have left in iCloud from here. The option will
show you a breakdown, but you cannot
manage storage. To do so, you’ll need to
go to Settings on your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
4
View devices
You can view your devices from Settings.
Click on a device, then on ‘Lost, sold or gave
away this device?’ to see the comprehensive
iCloud User Guide, which includes details for
locating or erasing your device.
5
Restore data
If you accidentally delete some iCloud
data, Apple lets you restore it through the
Advanced option in Account Settings. All
deleted data is stored here for 30 days,
after which it cannot be restored.
6
Applications and browsers
To ensure that you are in charge of your
data, Apple lets you manage applications that
have access to your Apple ID. You can also sign
out of any browsers that are currently signed
in to iCloud.com from here.
Genius tip!
If you can’t find your
lost device, use the Play
Sound feature in Find
My to help you search.
It works for AirPods too!
Jargon buster
iCloud is a web-based
storage service, linked
to your Apple ID. You
don’t need an Apple
device to create an ID,
or use iCloud. Using a
PC however won’t give
you full access to all
iCloud services.
