Mac Format - UK (2019-12)

DECEMBER 2019 | MACFORMAT | 75

Bear with us, as we work through some
confusing nomenclature here. Apple’s
streaming platform is called Apple TV+,
as you’ve no doubt worked out by now.
You’ll be able to access it by using the
Apple TV app, also called TV or just
‘TV’, which launched in May 2019. Apple
TV is, available on every viable Apple
platform, including Macs running
macOS Catalina and, er, the Apple TV.
The Apple TV app is also popping
up on some new smart TVs, starting

with Samsung’s line and soon extending
to new TVs from LG and Vizio, as well
as media streaming boxes from Roku
and, eventually, Amazon Fire TV too.
You’ll absolutely be able to stream
with AirPlay 2 if your TV is new
enough to support it. And if you’re
unsure on whether the service is for
you, or whether it’ll work well with your
hardware, Apple will offer a seven-day
free trial before you’ll need to drop
your monthly £4.99.

the likes of LG? Relax,
