The day one launch line-up of Apple TV+

The Morning Show
Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon
and Steve Carell collaborate on a biting
drama series following the behind-the-
scenes machinations of a suspiciously
Today Show-esque fictional TV show. Star
power? Apple’s certainly found it here.

Helpsters
The Sesame Workshop transplants
lovable muppet Cody from Sesame Street
into her own show aimed at preschoolers,
about problem solving. They do this
through planning and rudimentary coding
techniques. And probably the odd song.

Ghostwriter
A reboot of the classic BBC Two series,
following a gang of kid detectives guided
by a ghost now able to release fictional
characters into the world. Looks like the
CGI budget is higher than it was when
public TV was holding the purse strings...

Dickinson
Hailee Steinfeld (Pitch Perfect 2) stars
as the rebellious Emily Dickinson in a
comedic (and possibly somewhat
apocryphal) take on the poet’s 19th
century coming of age. No news yet
on how long the series will be.

Oprah
What will Oprah Winfrey be doing on
Apple TV+? Well, there’ll be some kind of
book club-related show, and a multi-part
series on mental health, co-created and
co-produced by the Duke of Sussex.
Expect to see at least one of these soon.

The Elephant Queen
Apple acquired the distribution rights to
this epic documentary after a strong
showing at Sundance. Chiwetel Ejiofor
narrates the story of elephant matriarch
Athena, as she takes her family on the
dangerous journey to pastures new.

See
Apple’s epic post-apocalyptic series sees
Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) as a
tribal warrior in a future in which the
human race has been rebuilt after being
stricken blind by a virus. It’s rumoured to
have cost almost $15 million per episode.

For All Mankind
What if the space race had gone
differently? What if the Soviets had
landed first, and the USA had stepped
up its lunar game in response? Joel
Kinnaman stars in this reimagining
of the 1960s battle for the cosmos.

Snoopy in Space
Apple has bagged the distribution rights
to new content featuring the Peanuts
gang, with a STEM educational series on
the docket amongst others. This first
foray, though, seems more like Peanuts’
usual frivolous fare.
