Pro with scissor keyboard now coming 2020

A

dobe first announced Photoshop
for the iPad in late 2018 and it’s
finally delivering on that promise!
Adobe originally promised a fully-fledged
version of Photoshop CC that would enable
users to edit and create, with the same set
of tools as on desktop. However, early beta
testers claimed that the experience was not
as great as promised, and Adobe had omitted
several important tools. Scott Belsky, Adobe’s
chief product officer responded by saying the
company was working to bring all of the tools
from desktop to the iPad.
Now, just as we’re going to press, the app
has been launched. We’ve not had a chance to

test it, but we believe the app is optimised
for touchscreen and Apple Pencil, but other
features, such as Sidecar support are unclear.
Before the launch, Adobe had split
Photoshop’s functionality into several smaller
apps for mobile, such as Photoshop Express
and Photoshop Mix, forcing serious users to
jump between apps when working on an
iPhone or iPad. The more comprehensive
Photoshop app should now provide an
all-in-one solution.
Adobe is also working hard on an iPad
version of Illustrator CC. Unveiled at its Adobe
MAX conference in November, it’s expected
to go on sale sometime in 2020.

A richer Photoshop experience finally comes to iPad

R

umours surrounding
the launch of a 16in
MacBook Pro have
reached fever pitch in recent
weeks – but it now looks like
this mythical model has been
delayed, possibly until 2020.
Reputed analyst Ming-Chi
Kuo first revealed the refresh
in February, arguing it would
squeeze a 16in display into a 15in
MacBook Pro body, thanks to
slimmer bezels, and that it would
mark a welcome return to a
scissor-style laptop keyboard,
instead of the third-gen butterfly
mechanism MacBooks use now.
IHS Markit analyst Jeff Lin
supports Kuo’s prediction, adding
that the device is likely to come

with a 3,072x1,092 pixel screen.
Lin believes the new device will
feature Intel’s ninth-generation
Coffee Lake processors, although
some are speculating that it will
include new Ice Lake CPUs.
Originally rumoured to launch
in September, then October, the
16in MacBook Pro is now said to
be ‘coming soon’, despite the fact
that references to it can be found
in macOS Catalina 10.15.1.
DigiTimes says Apple is
expected to receive volume
shipments in Q4 from its supplier
Quanta Computer. However it’s
unclear whether that means the
16in MacBook Pro will
launch this side of
Christmas or after.
