ANALOGUE POCKET
£150 (approx), analogue.co

There’s no denying the brilliance of modern-
day consoles, but sometimes you just wish you
could go back in time and revisit your old
Game Boy titles. Analogue – the Seattle-based
company that specialises in retro gaming
hardware – has launched a handheld that looks
just like the original Nintendo device, and plays
all your old Game Boy, Game Boy Advance and
Game Boy Color cartridges, but offers much
better visuals. Yes, the Pocket features a
3.5-inch LCD display that delivers 10 times the
resolution (1600x1440) of the original Game
Boy. The device comes with Nanoloop, the
legendary chiptune music maker that inspired
countless bedroom techno artists. Available
next year in limited quantities, the Pocket
promises to be a very fine vintage.

T3 SAYS: Retro gaming in high-def? The cool
kids are going to be queuing up for this one.

MICROSOFT SURFACE NEO
£TBC, microsoft.com

The Surface Neo (why do we always think of
Keanu Reeves when we write that?) is, to all
intents and purposes, the tablet equivalent of
the dual-screened Surface Duo smartphone
that we featured last month. The Neo takes
the ‘portable office’ concept to a whole new
level: weighing just 655g and boasting what
Microsoft describes as the “thinnest LCDs ever
created”, the device’s twin nine-inch displays
fold out to a more than adequate 13.1-inch
workspace, while an optional Bluetooth
keyboard and Surface Slim Pen enable you to
type and sketch with consummate ease. Also
featuring Intel’s new Lakefield hybrid processor
and Windows 10X – designed especially with
dual screens in mind – the Neo should be a
major hit when it launches next year.

T3 SAYS: As portable offices go, Microsoft’s
dual-screener is a twin-win solution.
