LEATHER DUAL TIME
Perhaps a little less out-there than the
other options here, but the Horizont by
Skagen should still catch many admiring
glances. The Danish company has a
reputation for bold but minimalist
timepieces, and this one is no different.
It somehow has a face which seems both full
of blank space and details at the same time.
The stainless steel 42mm case is 12mm thick,
water-resistant to 5 ATM and accepts
standard 22mm straps, if you’d like to swap
out the included NATO-style leather option.
A pair of secondary dials are used to track
a second timezone of your choosing and
24-hour time.

Now here’s a statement watch if ever we
saw one. Not only is the US-made Blend
Watch offered in three striking colourways,
but the watch actually features no hands.
Instead, the case houses two coloured and
semi-transparent discs, each with the
shape of a hand cut out of them. When
placed over a white background, the two
dials produce a new colour, while the
hand cut-outs remain unchanged. It’s
all to do with subtractive colour theory,
where semi-transparent colours laid over
each other create a new hue. Showcased
by the Museum of Modern Art in New
York, the watch has a 37mm stainless
steel case, leather strap and a Japanese
Miyota quartz movement.

GUNMETAL SANDSTONE
If it’s a stealthy look with flair you’re after,
this is for you. Available in 40mm and 45mm
options, the MVMT Chrono gunmetal
features a matt black case, bezel and hands,
with subtle grey hour markers and accents to
the hands just about making them visible.
Contracting this are the bright blue hands
for the three-dial chronograph and the
second hand. Those three sub dials are for
a 24-hour clock, 30-minute timer and
60-second timer - so while they don’t have
any markings, they’re still entirely readable
for those specific tasks. A small date
complication sits between four and five
o’clock, and water resistance is to 5 ATM.
