EXPERT INSIGHT FTZ ADAPTER


Neil says... I enjoy using the Z system’s native lenses – Sally used the Z 24-70mm f/4 S
and Z 14-30mm f/4 S – but as an existing Nikon user, the FTZ Mount Adapter was a
must-have. The Z lens line-up is only going getting bigger, but in the meantime, I’m able to
use my F-mount lenses, like the AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR we used on this shoot.

and a tighter crop was used. Finally, a
10-stop ND filter reduced the exposure to
20 seconds. Super Shot 3 was sorted.

TURNING THE TIDE
The final subject was to be a groyne, near
Teignmouth’s Grand Pier. Sally used
everything she’d learned through the day
to frame the shot and input the necessary
settings – in this case ISO64 and f/10.
Neil noted the fast-moving seawater and
suggested that Sally use a slow enough
exposure to indicate a sense of movement,
but not so slow that it would blur the sea
into an undefined milky mist. He dropped a
six-stop ND filter into the filter holder and
Sally eventually settled on a shutter speed
of just 1.6 seconds.
Just like Super Shot 1, timing was key and
Sally released the shutter just before the
waves crashed against the sandy shores.
