A POWDER ROOM IS THE PERFECT PLACE TO EXPERIMENT
WITH COLOUR AND PATTERN. HEREâS HOW TO BRING BIG
WOW FACTOR TO THE SMALLEST ROOM IN THE HOUSE.

WOW FACTOR: DRAMATIC COLOUR
In this London townhouse renovation
designer Suzy Hoodless was tasked with
creating a âParisian apartment meets
glamorous London homeâ look. âWe
went bold throughout so the powder
room is a condensed version of the rest of
the homeâ says Suzy. Taking full
advantage of the homeownersâ love of
dark hues she used a chalky black paint
on the walls and ceiling which expands
the space and lets the handmade
Moroccan tile flooring and golden
fixtures take centre stage.
THE DETAILS: Faced with tight spacing
through the door and around the toilet
Suzy chose a hidden pocket door to close
off the powder room from a vestibule.
And by mounting the sconces vertically
she was able to fit two of them bringing
more light to the dark space. Her
favourite element? âThe wall-hung
marble basin is a real showpieceâ she
says. Its deep trough and wall-mounted
faucet provide an extra dose of luxury
even in such a small space. Wall colour
Off-Black (57) Farrow & Ball; Carrara
marble basin Agape.
