OCULUS QUEST
BEST VIRTUAL REALITY HEADSET
$399 EDITORS’ CHOICE Llllh
The Oculus Quest does what we’ve wanted virtual reality to do for years: cut the cord without
compromising on control. This standalone VR headset has six-degrees-of-freedom (6DOF)
motion tracking, with two 6DOF controls, and it needs a wire for nothing but charging. The
mobile technology in the headset might not be as powerful as the PCs used by tethered
headsets, but all you’ll notice when playing Superhot VR or Beat Saber is how you’re not
tripping over a cable.

BEST GAME CONSOLE
NINTENDO SWITCH LITE
$199.99 EDITORS’ CHOICE Llllm
The Nintendo Switch is a brilliant game system because it lets you switch between using it as
a game console plugged into your TV and as a standalone gaming handheld. The Nintendo
Switch Light takes away the “switch” premise and functions purely as a portable system, but
at two-thirds the price of the full Switch—and that’s a fair trade-off. Add a proper direction
pad, and you have the best gaming handheld to date. It isn’t for gamers who want to dock
their Nintendo games and play on their TV, but if you like your games in your hands, this is the
best way to play them.

BESET XBOX ONE GAME
GEARS 5
$59.99 (AS TESTED) Llllm
Gears 5 is the first main game in the series to nix the “of War” suffix, but make no mistake: The
Gears are still at war. The alien-blasting shooter continues the story of the Coalition of
Ordered Government’s fight against the deadly Swarm. Gears 5’s captivating storytelling,
solid shooting mechanics and cover system, and excellent visuals far outweigh the game’s
average multiplayer modes.
