LET ME EXPLAIN
ACCORDING TO KATIE MCCAIN, 3 4 , ADVERTISING AGENCY PRODUCER, PORTLAND, OREGON
(1) Winter riding in Portland is a daily test in temperature regulation to get warm without overheating with the least amount of layers.
Biggest winter riding tip: Bring a burrito bag. (2) My favorite midride snack is probably a gas station ice cream on a hot summer day. (3) I’ll
take rollers all day, every day. Hammer up, recover down. Rest. Repeat. (4) The first day I rode my gravel bike. I felt like a puppy dog with
its head out the window. (5) My go-to steed is my titanium Moots Vamoots. The way the road feels on that bike, it’s my timeless treasure.
(6) One of my favorite tours was riding from Joshua Tree back to Los Angeles with a crew of my best bike babes. We smiled, cursed, and
maybe cried a little through the sufferfest. (7) I’m always trying to find ways to build my body to better serve adventurous days on the
bike. I usually focus on my core, hips, and lower back.
