MOTORCYCLETRADER 105
source, but the performance and aftermarket
items had quickly dried up.
I was searching for a genuine Buell racing
muffler because, like any Harley engine with a
standard pipe, it sounded woeful in stock trim.
With no luck sourcing a genuine item, I
settled for the popular Jardine slip-on in
carbon-fibre from the US. That muffler alone
transformed the bike from a whisper to a
barking crack at every twist of the throttle.
I trimmed the huge plastic rear wheel/belt
drive cover into something more stylish and
tracked down a fender eliminator through the
Buell owners club online.
After replacing the stock indicators with
compact LED items, the mirrors also got
ditched in favour of a single ’bar end item.
Everything I did to the Buell was to return it
to its original minimalist styling, before ADR
rules demanded the ugly add-ons.
All these mods were done within the first
month of owning the bike and not a thing has
been changed since.
