MUNICH VS MILWAUKEE!
Concept R18 take two, or ‘slash two’, a near-
production version, dubbed R18, featuring 1800cc
air-cooled ‘Big Boxer’ with more modern and
aggressive cruiser styling to hint at new platform’s
flexibility. Several other derivatives, including a
bagger and tourer, are expected.
The exposed shaft drive has been confirmed for
production. Concept’s tiny indicators and tail-lights
unlikely, however.
Due first half of 2020.

Gets a ‘retuned’ version of S 1000 RR’s 999cc inline four.
Surprisingly, however, misses out on ‘ShiftCam’ variable-valve
timing, and outputs are identical to the current model.
Fourth, fifth and sixth gears have longer ratios to
reduce noise, fuel use and engine speed.
Engine (5kg lighter) takes on a more load-bearing
role. Frame and swingarm are 2.1kg lighter.
Several previously optional electronic rider aids
now standard. 6.5-inch TFT screen also standard.
Due first half of 2020.
