saw Murray. The Northeast
Georgia Animal Shelter in
Lavonia, GA had posted a photo of
the beagle on social media, hoping
to find someone to rescue him. “His
right ear had been halfway cut off and
his tail was cut halfway off by rubber
bands,” Yvonne remembers. “He
was thin and needed to gain weight.
He was deemed unadaptable by the
shelter and was available to rescue
only.” Many people would hesitate to
take on a pup in Murray’s condition,
but as the director and founder of
Alcovy Pet Rescue, Yvonne didn’t
think twice. She immediately found
a foster mom for Murray and went
down to the shelter to pick him up. As
soon as Murray arrived to his foster
mom’s home, he began to show that
he had some special talents. “Murray’s
foster mom noticed his ability to sniff
out food inside cabinets and doors
and his ability to climb and search,”
Yvonne tells AT. “He was a very smart
boy!” After realizing that Murray met
the requirements to become an officer
for the United States Department of
Agriculture (USDA), they decided to
enroll him in the training program.
