erbs are the lifeblood of language. Some

verbs, such as “eat”, “dance” or “write”,

describe physical activity; others, for ex-

ample “love”, “need” or “think”, describe

feelings or states. As we all know, verbs

are essential to speech — without them,

most of what we say would have no meaning. We intro-

duce you to different groups of verbs in our fun winter

story “Delirious Decorations — a tale of 20 verbs”, which

starts on page 18. You can see the verbs in context, prac-

tise them in the accompanying exercises and, we hope, be

entertained at the same time.

If you’d rather leave the cold behind you, take a trip
