ARTISANS’ VILLAGE
On the west bank of the Nile, the site of Deir
el Medina was home to the New Kingdom
masons and craftsmen who built the tombs
in the Valley of the Kings. Systematically
excavated from the early 1900s, it has
yielded much information about the
workings of justice under the pharaohs.
