Bradleytodesigntheirnewhomeandcontracted
a localbuilder,DanielLedbury,toconstructit.They
hadtoovercomea fewchallengesbeforetheycould
turnthefirstsod,however.Sincetheareahadonce
beencoal-miningcountry,theriskofsubsidence
meanttherewerestrictregulationsaboutthetype
ofpropertyandmaterialsused.Theyhitanother
snagwhenunstablesoilanda largerockneeded
tobe removed.“Wealsodiscoveredthata
stormwatereasementwasn’tproperlyregistered
withthecouncil,andthatthewaterpipeswereold
andbroken.Bothissueshadtobe remedied before
movingahead,”saysDavid.
