Where’d You
Go, Bernadette
A life of constantly putting her family before
herself has left mother Bernadette Fox
(Cate Blanchett) grumpy and yearning for a
break. One day, she mysteriously disappears,
leading her daughter Bee Branch (Emma
Nelson) to embark on a mission to learn the
escapee’s fate.
FIVE FACTS:
- This film, directed and co-written by
Richard Linklater, adapts Maria Semple’s
2012 comedy novel also titled Where’d You
Go, Bernadette. - Two of the production companies
involved in this movie, Annapurna Pictures
and Color Force, acquired the film rights to
the novel in January 2013. - This is the second film in which Blanchett
and Billy Crudup co-star, after Charlotte Gray
in 2001. - Some of the film’s arctic scenes were set to
use “green screen” - but as Blanchett insisted
that the backdrop should be authentic,
production shifted to Greenland. - Amazon Studios also had a hand in
the film, hence the abundant product
placement for Amazon Prime.
