Box office source: Comscore; estimates in $ millions; ( )Weekends in release; *Territories. Broadcast source: Nielsen, live-plus-3, week of Oct. 28. Cable TV source: Nielsen, live-plus-3 scripted series.

Roland Emmerich’s $100 million World War II epic was financed
by Chinese money and foreign sales. It won the domestic race in
a surprise upset, thanks to its proximity to Veterans Day, but it
fared poorly overseas, including in China (bringing in $1 million).

Though well reviewed, the sequel to The Shining (1979) opened
to nearly half its expected business. Box office analysts blame a
post-Halloween release date and unfamiliar IP. Warners will have
plenty of profit left over from Joker to make up for losses.

The rom-com wasn’t very merry in its debut. Paul Feig’s feature,
starring Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding, won’t be a financial
disaster — it cost $30 million or so to produce before marketing
— but it had been hoped to open to at least $17 million in the U.S.

While all three of Dick Wolf’s Chicago
dramas remain evenly matched on
Wednesdays, it’s the 9 o’clock origi-
nal that boasts a narrow margin of
victory over spinoffs P.D. and Med.

With the Starz flagship’s final
episodes set to air in early 2020, the
midseason finale ranks as the top
performer in all of premium cable,
also pulling 853,000 adults 18-49.

The pop band adds
its 15th top 10 song
— 15 years after its
first, “This Love,”
in 2004. It’s the
highest number of
top 10 hits among
groups during
that span.

Her new top 10
effort debuts with
the third-largest
week for a country
album in 2019
(53,000 equivalent
album units, per
Nielsen Music).
