ALBERTO IGLESIAS

Rocketman
Paramount’s Elton John biopic tied
Bombshell with three noms from the
Makeup Artists and Hair Stylists Guild.
Rocketman’s team — Lizzie Yianni
Georgiou, Tapio Salmi, Barrie Gower,
Victoria Money and Laura Solari —
was honored across three categories.

Charlize Theron
Bombshell
Sizzle reels at Nov. 8’s American
Cinematheque Awards and Hollywood
Film Awards on Nov. 1 both reminded
audiences that from drama to action,
Theron is a rare example of an actress
tackling a true variety of roles.

BEST ACTRESS MAKEUP/HAIRSTYLING

The Traitor (Italy)
Marco Bellocchio’s Mafia drama, based
on the real-life story of mob boss turned
informant Tommaso Buscetta, landed
European Film Award noms for best film,
director, actor and writing Nov. 9. The
pic is Italy’s entry for the international
feature film Oscar category.

Lionheart (Nigeria)/
Joy (Austria)
Both films were disqualified from the
international feature film race by the
Academy for being predominantly in
English. The decision sparked debates on
what constitutes an international film and
whether language is a fair measure.

INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILM

Two international
films disqualified, the doc
race winnowed and
