This, the first national military park,
honors Civil War soldiers who fought
for control of Chattanooga—the Gateway
to the Deep South—in the fall of 1863.
The battlefield includes sections on both

Fort Pulaski National Monument
It was here, on April 11, 1862, that
defense strategy changed worldwide,
when Union rifled cannon first
overcame a masonry fortification

Battlefield Park
This park preserves the start of the Atlanta
campaign, including the Civil War battles
of Kolb’s Farm, June 22, 1864, and

National Civil War Naval Museum
Dedicated to the naval story of the Civil
War, the museum contains CSS Albemarle,
CSS Chattahoochee, the raised CSS Jackson,
and a replica of CSS Water Witch.

Lincoln Home National Historic Site
Home to Abraham Lincoln until he
assumed the presidency. This 12-room
Greek Revival house has been restored
to its 1860 appearance.

Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial
Childhood home of the 16th president
who lived here from 1816 to 1830.

Chickamauga and Chattanooga
National Military Park
This monument honors the 15th US Infantry, who
fought for the Union in the Battle of Chickamauga. It
was the first major battle to be fought in Georgia, and
the combined losses were second only to Gettysburg.
