Versace’s new fragrances were inspired by
its own Milanese atelier, where the fashion
label’s most iconic haute couture looks have
been designed for the past 30 years.
‘I wanted something unique, a collection of
fragrances that felt like they were made-to-
measure, like the dresses we create,’ explains
Donatella Versace.
According to Marypierre Julien – the perfumer behind
the elegant fig and Italian mandarin Figue Blanche – the
brief was to craft ‘scented emotions’.
‘Donatella wanted them to be expressed like threads of
couture fabric, weaving together the finest ingredients as if
t h e y w e r e s i n g u l a r l y u n i q u e p i e c e s o f fi n e f a b r i c ,’ s a y s J u l i e n.
The resulting six perfumes are as varied and opulent
as the Versace runways, ranging from vibrant citruses and
airy florals to velvety, smoky woods that
w i ll appea l to ever y pa late.
Cédrat de Diamante is a zesty blend
of lemon and grapefruit, while Jasmin au
Soleil contains flowers picked during an
Indian sunrise to preserve their freshness.
Each bottle is handmade with a metal
cap featuring a replica of the brand’s
Medusa motif, and pays eloquent homage
to the famed artistry of the storied house.
