THE LAST OF US PART II
Ellie and Dina have to put on gas masks to avoid
inhaling the spores of the infected while exploring an
abandoned supermarket. After a tumble, the blind
Clickers are alerted, and Dina has to take action to defend Ellie.
Clickers rely on hearing because they can’t see you.
This means you can sneak up on them (or past them),
but staying quiet is paramount. Get close enough, and
you can take them out, making the world a teensy bit safer.
Clickers aren’t the only sort of infected returning
in Part 2. Runners – the most classic of The Last Of
Us’ zombie-like enemies, in the early stages of the
cordyceps infection – are also a thorn in Ellie’s side.
As always, noises like gunshots can alert enemies
- infected or not – to your presence. Though the
immediate threat’s been dealt with, Dina and Ellie now
have to deal with even more Clickers drawn by the noise of firing.
Because they’re reliant on sound to find you, you can
also distract Clickers by creating noise elsewhere.
Throw a bottle into just the right place and it’ll draw
their attention, making escaping a sticky situation a possibility.
But so too are the ever-gross Bloaters. The fungus
covering these long-term infected helps protect
them, so they soak up plenty of bullets before they get
put down, and constantly emit an explosive spore gas.
Call them zombies, call them infected, just don’t call them late for dinner
