Box office source: Comscore; estimates in $ millions; ( )Weekends in release; *Territories. Broadcast source: Nielsen, live-plus-3, week of Sept. 30. Cable TV source: Nielsen, live-plus-3 scripted series.

Unless Ang Lee’s big-budget “de-aging” pic wildly overperforms
in China, the Will Smith action thriller could conservatively lose
$60 million to $75 million for Skydance Media — which took the
lead — Paramount Pictures and China’s Fosun and Alibaba.

CBS Films, launched in 2007, is quietly fading to black. While the
company’s final theatrical release barely registered in its U.S.
debut, it scored big this summer with Scary Stories to Tell in the
Dark ($94.7 million) and doc Pavarotti ($4.6 million).

South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho’s critically acclaimed
film ignited the specialty box office with an opening location
average of $128,072 — the biggest since La La Land ($176,221)
three years ago. It’s also a record for a foreign-language film.

Though linear ratings are down
(20 percent) from the same week in
2018, the venerable medical drama
continues to outshine the entire ABC
lineup in its 16th season.

Nearing the end of its freshman
season, Gemstones hits a series
high among linear viewers and, for
the first time, narrowly tops lead-in
Succession among total viewers.

The artist
scores his second
Hot 100 No. 1
and first to debut
at the summit;
“Sicko Mode”
reached the top,
in its 17th week, in
December.

The set starts with
the largest stream-
ing week ever for
an R&B album by a
woman (154.7 mil-
lion on-demand
audio streams for
its songs).
