INTERCHANGEABLE DESIGNS
Though her family has long been in-
volved in promoting Indian fashion,
for Ananya Malhotra, the daughter
of Evoluzione’s Tina and Atul Mal-
hotra and the youngest designer on
our list, the allure of gemstones
proved irresistible.

“I discovered jewellery in my
foundation year”
Fashion seemed like the most obvious
path but while at Central Saint Mar-
tins in London I knew jewellery was
where my interest lay. I continued my
education with a gemology degree at
the Gemological Institute of America
(GIA) in London. I am passionate
about gemstones; the process of select-
ing them has been exciting.

“This collection is inspired by
the chakras”
There are two facets. The Celestial Lo-
tus symbolises each stage of the lotus
as it progresses from the root chakra to
the crown chakra. My interpretation is
contemporary and geometric, edgy de-

tailing with delicate forms.
The second collection, Syn-
ergies, represents the
movement of energy from
one chakra to the next. Its

chakras. The gemstones as-
sist in activating them.

“Jewellery isn’t meant to
be locked up”
People associate fun jewellery
with loud, non-precious pieces,
but that’s not necessarily the
case. The Naya Synergy Power
ear jackets and Celeste Lotus
layered pink ear jackets are some
of my favourites for their versatility.
You can interchange the ear studs
with solitaires if you want to go the
classic route. The Synergy Chakra
bracelets can be combined and worn
together or paired with a watch/ban-
gle. Stacking the right combination of
bracelets is huge at the moment.

“The jewellers who inspire me
push boundaries...”
I love the individual and playful style
of Victoire de Castellane and Solange
Azagury-Partridge. Their concept-
driven jewellery and use of precious

stones is fascinating. They have
pushed aside the restrictions and rules

“Fashion and jewellery make
great bedfellows...”
I would love to collaborate with de-
signer Anamika Khanna.

“Women who wear my pieces...”
They’re all about contrasts. Shriya
Bhupal’s feminine aesthetic has an
edge while Aishwarya Rajinikanth
Dhanush brings alive a balance of
traditional and contemporary. Q
